Hereford Camping and Caravan Club Site - The Mill Pond - Lake

The Mill Pond at Tarrington near Hereford is a short walk from the pitches at this immaculately kept campsite. At 3.5 acres with 48 pegs the lake offers excellent all round angling opportunities for most anglers. The fishery has a separate website to the campsite, http://www.millpondfishing.co.uk/ which contains useful information about the fishing, prices and you will definitely need to look at the rules particularly hook size and line strength which for the Specimen Carp angler will mean a change in tackle to smaller hooks and line!

 

Because the campsite is so well rated this is a very busy site and in the height of summer you will struggle to find a peg free which will not be to everyone's liking. This also means that the fishing can be hard due to the volume of bait and angling pressure. To add to this the lake also allows day ticket anglers and with the limited number of lakes in the area this is a popular fishing haunt for the locals. If you want the lake to yourself with easier fishing then early and late season will be better (spring and autumn).

All tactics work well float/pole/feeder/ledger, don't under estimate how productive the near margin can be for the bigger carp and surface baits work well throughout the day. Some nice sized Perch are also present as well as Tench and Bream.
