Etang Petit Val Landrouet - Lake

Etang Petit Val Landrouet is a public lake and is therefore controlled by the regional carte de Peche, region 22 – Cotes d’Armor. A day or week ticket can be purchased either online or in the office onsite. Be aware that if booking online you will need to register and upload a photo as well as print off the ticket; which can be quite difficult when on holiday. A day ticket is 12 Euros at the time of writing when purchased either online or onsite (09/2016). The ticket does allow you to fish any public venue in the region and also includes the larger lake onsite.

The smaller of the 2 lakes on the complex at about 1.5 acres and is aimed at the younger angler. It is a catch and release venue and is heavily stocked to ensure that beginners do not get despondent.

The lake is mature with a number of lily and rush beds around the margins of the lake with several lily beds in the centre. The deepest area is in the middle of the lake towards the end with the overspill (square concrete drain in the water) here it is 2.1m, the middle at the opposite end is 1.6m. On the office/bar side of the lake it deepens off quickly whereas the opposite bank is more gradual. The bottom of the lake has a thin layer of silt but is reasonably clean. There are also lots of overhanging trees to provide cover for the fish making it a pleasant venue to fish. There is a 1 rod limit on this pool however the fish can come thick and fast – in the hour or so that I fished I had 3 carp to 15lb and lost one through a pulled hook!

The lake contains a good head of Perch, Roach, Black Bass, and Carp. For the Carp I would advise you to bait up 2 or 3 spots and then alternate between them thus allowing each swim to recover after catching a Carp. Method feeder or waggler fished with pellet, ground bait, sweet corn, maggot or worm will all work well. Dog Biscuit or crust fished around the marginal weed works well also. Boilie tactics on a ledger with a stringer or PVA bag and a few free offerings will pick up Carp every half hour or so. Pole fishing with maggots and groundbait would be a successful approach to catching the roach, perch and Black Bass however you will struggle to land some of the bigger Carp given the snags.

The predators are small and I would suggest using dropshot or light spinning tactics to pick up the perch and Black Bass as an alternative to maggots or worm.

A nice venue which is great if you want a busy day catching a multitude of species and great for beginners.
