Camping Le Brevedent - Lake

 

This picturesque campsite and lake located in the grounds of a Chateau is a great spot to relax and do a spot of fishing. The lake contains mainly small wild carp to about 8lb and some roach. There are pitches on the bank of the lake and unless you have one of these you will be limited to just 4/5 spots where you can fish so I would recommend booking one. The lake is shallow, only 4ft at its deepest and the carp can be easily seen cruising about and kicking up clouds of silt when they are feeding on the bottom, take a look carefully at the image below.



 

I opted to bait a few areas with boilies and alternate fishing boilies on the bottom,  popped up, or snowman with a bright popup and contrasting bottom bait the same as the free offerings. I also used dog biscuits on the surface to great effect. This worked well catching 7 carp on the first evening and 14 carp the next day even though it was busy with canoes and I got moved because I was fishing from an empty pitch and then the campers turned up!

All the usual carp baits will work here fished on the float, ledgered or freelined - dont expect any big carp but these Wild Carp will put up a good fight for there size!
